MetOcean’s website had a user experience that was inconsistent with their competitors, and tricky to navigate. Users were unlikely to purchase products online, and user experience standards were failing at critical points in the user journey. We were tasked with examining the user experience, and providing a newly designed website to align with best practices
Process
Initially, MetOcean had identified four distinct user categories for their website. However, through a proto-persona and journey mapping exercise conducted in collaboration with the client, it was discovered that these categories actually aligned with their internal business units rather than representing distinct user groups.
By taking a user-centric approach, we recognized that there were actually five distinct user categories from the perspective of the website’s visitors.
Result
The redesigned website provides a tailored experience for each user group. This involved optimizing the website to facilitate easy and direct communication with sales associates for high-value products, while also ensuring a seamless online purchasing experience for other products that are more commonly bought online.
